the snow
last night/earlier this week there were high hopes for A LOT of snow coming to ann arbor and premature anger at umichigan for not calling a snow day. wellll I have a few thoughts on that.
a. the hype almost guaranteed that it could not be as bad as we expected
-it's like when you hear a movie was great and you watch it, expecting it to be awesome and while it may have been good, you were expecting much better and it comes off as bad (love actually. thanks guys)
-we wanted it too bad
b. it wasn't that bad here. I was hugely disappointed. the roads were iffy but we got maybe 6 inches. the sidewalk kinda disappeared but I think some of that was from the wind
c. the rumor that law students sued michigan after a snow day for missed class is not true
d. the last time michigan had a snow day: 1978. for 19 inches. sooooo chances were small anyways
e. I was/am okay with going to my classes today (which was pretty much happening no matter what, they live on campus I think and were not cancelling/all my classes are in the afternoon)
f. twitter is awesome. I follow the weather channel breaking news and was very informed very easily. (if you are stuck on the road in a blizzard, turn your car on for 10 minutes every hour, leave a not-facing-the-wind window cracked to get fresh air, tie a brightly colored cloth to your antenna) it is also a good way for people to communicate to a large group of people quickly. example: ChicagoRedCross tweeted asking for a safe place near Lake Shore Drive that stranded drivers could get to. TWCBreaking retweeted it. someone gave an address/location. again, quick. get twitter! (and follow me...)
g. watch out, at least 2 people have died shovelling already.

food
in the fall, my friend lauren asked me what made life worth living for a class film she was making. as I was at a pregame for a football game, jennie immediately shouted at me "FOOTBALL. say football!" instead, I said "people. I love spending time with people"
"and FOOD. I. love. food."
so here are a few of my top foods:
-cheddar cheese is good melted on stuff and plain
-cream cheese is obviously delicious on bagels but also good served as chinese dip: a block of cream cheese cut in half the weird way (so it's only like half an inch thick) with soy sauce and sesame seeds on top, served with wheat thins
-mozzarella cheese is good served different ways but recently I was introduced to... cut up bacon into small pieces, fry it. separately mix eggs, milk, and mozzarella in a cup. once the bacon is fried, pour in the eggs. fry. soooo tasty.
-goat cheese is always good. nan knows
-pancakes. bisquick is my main mix (I finally snagged a box at meijer) and I add some vanilla and cinnamon and put a little more milk in. and maple syrup is a must
-smoothies. good fo sho but could be too much work. awesomely, I recently found mixes that you only need to add juice to! frozen fruit and yogurt are already mixed. (jamba juice, near the frozen juice)
-I first tried broccoli pot pie while babysitting for my cousin, elliott, and have not been able to find it since. suggestions?
-hot chocolate. not really a food but make sure you make it with milk and add chocolate chips after the mix. they will all melt, don't worry
-avocados are amazing in guac of course but try this: sourdough bread + sliced avocado + sliced tomato + cheddar cheese toasted in the oven and eaten open-face. did that make sense?

spring break
after lots of searching (on Sam's part) and a few meetings for planning our spring break trip, it looks like Florida is falling through. so now, just over a month before that lovely week of no school, we are going in a completely different direction from the relaxing, sun-filled break I've been on every other year. instead we may be heading to....
CHICAGO!!
but what will we do? where will we stay? after a bit of research, this is what I've found:

procrastination
I always keep an eye out for new [funny] websites to check periodically. mostly because I feel odd sitting without my computer in front of me, even when I'm eating, watching tv, whatever... I also get bored by the websites quickly(ish) so I need a looong list.
check it out (in reverse alphabetical order):

sitting in class
this is probably rude.
but I'm sitting in a [2 hour] class that I'm planning on dropping (sorry Sam and Michelle!) and am searching for jobs. (and starting another blog)
check out what I've found:
http://www.lpzoo.org/careers (the assistant director of membership)
--heading back home??
and
--Sam thinks I should go to Tulsa. because she will be there... we'll see
unfortunately both require 2 years of experience that I don't have but I'm planning on heading to the career center later this week to see what I can do about that.
just realized I'm one of not many (besides Sam and Michelle, who I'm also gchatting with) typing. probably should stop now.
bis bald.
